Vespa 125 GT 1966

The Vespa GT was produced from 1966 to 1968 and aimed primarily at the British as well as the Italian home-market. Licensing laws and taxation in those countries made the almost identical Vespa Sprint 150 cost prohibitive for many potential buyers. It is basically a 150 Sprint with a smaller bore and lower gearing, presumably to hit the European learner 125 market. All body parts and most engine parts (except for the piston, barrel, and gears) should be interchangeable between the two. The GT is now prized by collectors far more than its mass-market 150cc cousin. The frame was identical to the Sprint 150, was also very similar to the 125 Super: the main difference was in the wheels, which were 10". Performance was slightly better due to a higher compression ratio. The headlamp was trapezoidal. The body was becoming more modern (thanks to the new headlamp) and the wheels had a larger diameter: a characteristic particularly appreciated by the target public of sixteen-year-olds.
