Iama Joseso Argentina Yellow Van 1:43 Scale Model 1959
In the mid-1950s, Mr. José María Rodríguez had designed and built in his workshop in the Buenos Aires town of Olivos some original mini-utility cars with open bodies, named Joseso. This curious name derived from a nickname that Rodríguez himself had in his childhood.
The Joseso was a small car for four passengers with a functional minivan body, inspired by the Fiat 600 Multipla. It was made of reinforced plastic and was mounted on a flat bolted steel platform on a chassis of longitudinal stringers reinforced with crossbars. In this way the rigidity of the assembly was ensured.
Its mechanics were based on a Villiers engine of English origin, which with 200 cc delivered a power of 10 hp. The transmission was manual with four forward and reverse gears. The traction was rear through a slide that transmitted movement only to the right wheel. It had independent front and rear Cantilever-type suspension.
Being an affordable vehicle, its level of equipment was precarious and spartan. Neither radio nor heating was included as standard and it went so far as to lack windshield wipers, an element that was offered as an option and whose installation was the responsibility of the dealerships.
The interior presented the same appearance of modesty and simplicity. The instrument panel was made up of a flat piece made of the same material as the body. It only had a speedometer and two indicator lights. Despite the small dimensions, the cabin had space for four passengers, access to the rear seats being facilitated by the inclination of the backrests of the front individual seats.
